About Us
In 2015, our lives were unexpectedly touched by a small Himalayan kingdom called Bhutan.
My wife Katharina — a Body-Mind Psychotherapist — and I, a retired banker, are both Swiss and were living in Singapore at the time when we decided to travel to Bhutan. From the very first moment, arriving on the dramatic flight into Paro Airport, weaving between mountain peaks and landing in a narrow valley, we felt that this journey would be something special.
Bhutan welcomed us with breathtaking beauty: unspoiled rivers flowing through deep valleys, quiet temples perched on hillsides, ancient monasteries, and a landscape of pure nature framed by the Himalayas. Equally unforgettable were the people — friendly, humble, warm-hearted, and quietly joyful. Wherever we went, we were met with genuine hospitality, curiosity, and kindness.
During our travels we met the owner of a small workshop producing traditional Bhutanese Thangkas. There, we watched painters sitting simply on plastic crates in the open air, patiently drawing and painting the most intricate sacred images by hand — using only natural mineral and plant-based pigments, just as they have for centuries. The devotion, skill, and calm concentration of these artists deeply moved us.
We bought a few Thangkas on that first visit, not knowing that this would become the beginning of a long relationship. Even after returning to Singapore, we stayed in touch and continued to acquire works directly from the same workshop — supporting the artists and preserving this living tradition.
One of our most memorable experiences was an adventurous flight from eastern Bhutan back to Paro, crossing remote mountain ranges and deep valleys — a vivid reminder of how untouched and wild much of this country remains.
This website is our way of sharing what Bhutan gave us: not only beautiful Thangkas, but also a sense of serenity, humility, and connection to something timeless. Each Thangka we offer carries with it the spirit of Bhutan — its people, its landscapes, and its quiet wisdom.
We invite you to explore this collection and, through it, perhaps feel a little of what we felt when Bhutan first opened its heart to us.
We welcome you to reach out and explore the world of sacred Bhutanese art. Whether you have questions, custom requests, or simply wish to learn more about our spiritual offerings, our team is here to guide you.
